Title Issue Date Contribution
Adventure Comics 459 10/78 A 15-page New Gods story, "Climax to Chaos" written by Gerry Conway, penciled by Don and inked by Augie Scotto. This is the continuation of the New Gods story from New Gods #19.
460 12/78 A 10-page New Gods story, "Pursuit to Eternity" written by Gerry Conway, penciled by Don and inked by Augie Scotto. This story wrapped up the loose-ends from the New Gods own book and presented the end to the war between the New Gods and Darkseid of Apokolips.
Also features a 13-page Aquaman story, "The Hunt" written by Paul Kupperberg, penciled by Don and inked by Dan Adkins. This story is really nicely drawn by Don and Dan.

466 12/79 A 10-page Aquaman story, "Death on Ice" written by Bob Rozakis, penciled by Don and inked by Dan Adkins.
491 9/82 A 9-page Shazam! story, "The Confederation of Hell," written by E. Nelson Bridwell, Penciled by Don, inked by Frank Chiaramonte. Adventure went to digest-size with this issue, so it's 5" x 7" and looks pretty poor, actually.
492 10/82 A 10-page Shazam! story, "... Battle With The Gods!", written by E. Nelson Bridwell, penciled by Don and inked by John Calnan. Again, digest-size, and I think Calnan's inks (even at this diminutive size) took away a lot of "Newtonian" quality.
I suspect this and the one in 491 were originally slated for World's Finest, before it went back to standard format from the Dollar Size.
All Star Squadron Annual 3 1984 Don contributes three beautiful pages featuring the golden age Batman and Robin vs the Catwoman. The pages are inked by Mike Machlan, who does a really nice job and are part of a 41-page Justice Society story by Roy Thomas, that also features art by Rick Hoberg, Jerry Ordway, Rich Buckler, Wayne Boring, Richard Howell, Carmine Infantino, Martin Nodell, George Perez, and Keith Giffen.
Aquaman 60 3/78 An 11-page Aquaman story "Scavenger, Ravenger, Plunderer, Thief!" written by David Michelinie, penciled by Don and inked by John Celardo. Features Kobra. Don returned to Aquaman after his first art on the character appeared in DC Special #23 eight months earlier.

362 8/83 The Riddler is featured in a 23-page story, "When Riddled by the Riddler..." written by Doug Moench, penciled by Don, and inked by Alfredo Alcala. Alcala's inks look very good over Don's pencils for the rest of the run.

379 1/85 A 23-page story, "Bedtime Stories", written by Doug Moench, penciled by Don and inked by Alfredo Alcala.
Batman Family 13 9/77 Robin, Batgirl and Man-Bat together for the first time in a story, "The Man Who Melted Manhattan!" written by Bob Rozakis, penciled by Don and Marshall Rogers, and inked by Bob Wiacek. This is a 30-page story, broken up into four chapters. Except for the eight pages of chapter 2, Don pencils the entire thing. There is some great early Newton art here, including a very sexy rendition of Batgirl, but it sometimes gets lost in the Wiacek inks.
Batman Gallery 1 92 Reprints cover for Batman # 374

Detective Comics 480 11/78 A 17-page Batman story, "The Perfect Fighting Machine" written by Denny O'Neil, penciled by Don and inked by Dave Hunt. Don was credited as a "Guest Penciller" on this his first Batman story. Hunt was not the greatest of inkers for Don; he tended to smooth and simplify, losing too much of the Newton style in the process.
481 1/79 An 11-page Robin story, ""Does the Costume Make the Hero?" written by Bob Rozakis, penciled by Don and inked by Dan Adkins.
Also, an 11-page Man-Bat story, "The Whittles Snatch" written by Bob Rozakis, penciled by Don and inked by Dave Hunt.

Also, an 11-page Man-Bat story, "SST -- The Super-Sonic Threat!" written by Bob Rozakis, penciled by Don and inked by Frank McLaughlin. Frank was not a good inker for Don, with the art looking too stiff and lacking in the details normally associated by Don's work.

500 3/81 Don was treated pretty shabby by DC right here. He just completed 15 of the last 16 issues, but for issue 500, they snub him completely. Not right at all.

Cover by Don Newton and Dick Giordano A 56-page Batman story, "All My Enemies Against Me!" written by Gerry Conway, penciled by Don and inked by Alfredo Alcala. 291 4/81 Splash page by Newton and Orlando.
Infinity Inc. 11 2/85 Don penciled a 5-page framing sequence around an 18-page story drawn by George Tuska and Mike Machlan, Don's pencils are inked by Tony DeZuniga and look very, very good. The story, "Aftermath--and Prologue" is written by Roy Thomas, co-plotted by Dann Thomas. Roy announces the death of Don in the letters page. Don and Ed Hannigan designed the cover which was executed by Jerry Ordway after Don's untimely death.
12 3/85 I believe the first three pages to this book were the last pieces of art Don Newton ever created. The pages were sent in to DC by Don's mother as Don lay in a coma in the hospital. They were lovingly inked by Joe Rubinstein. The story, "Press Conference" is written by Roy Thomas.
13 4/85 Don's last published work completed shortly before his death. A 23-page story, "A Thorn Grows in Paradise," written by Roy Thomas and inked by Joe Rubinstein who was a long-time friend of Don's and Don's favorite inker. Joe volunteered to ink the book even though he was under contract with Marvel at the time. Marvel was kind enough to let Joe do the book. John Clark, a close friend of Don's and a fellow resident of Phoenix lettered the issue.

16 2/78 Don is back with another 17-page story, his first as a full-time comic artist, having quit his job as a teacher. "The Titan and the Hunter" is written by Gerry Conway and is, I believe, the first time Joe Rubinstein inks Don's pencils. Joe was Don's favorite inker and inked Don's last artwork on Infinity Inc. #13.

This page is a work in progress. I hope to have a full listing of all of Don's work during all aspects of his career. But, you know what, I don't know everything and I don't own every book Don worked on. So, maybe you can help me. If you find either errors or omissions on this page (or any page on this web-site), please let me know about it. Through the link below you can help me to improve this site. I would very much appreciate it.

Yeah, I know some stuff about Don Newton's work that ya missed Keller!
